Non-specific
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) / Pulmonary Embolism (PE) symptoms are nonspecific, making it difficult to diagnose based solely on clinical presentation
Variability
DVT often presents differently in patients which can delay diagnosis, and majority of PE related deaths occur within the first hours after presentation
Diagnostics
Imaging is not always definitive and may miss smaller clots, potentially leading to additional testing and increased cost
Reoccurrence
Residual thrombosis from previous episodes can complicate the interpretation of imaging results
